Join the Women in IT Community of Practice for these events and activities. All are welcome!
We’d love for you to join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Center for Academic Innovation’s production studios, including the XR Studio, lecture studios, and podcast studio, where CAI creates immersive learning experiences for the University of Michigan community on Thursday, June 11 @12PM. During the tour, we’ll get to see projects ranging from a virtual climb to the top of Mount Everest to an interactive history of Black protest, along with other innovative digital learning experiences being developed by the team.
After the tour, we’ll stick around for a casual lunch and conversation with the CAI team. This is intended to be a low-stakes opportunity to connect with colleagues across IT, learn a little more about the work happening around campus, and build community and networking relationships in an informal setting. Just fine to come late or leave early.
Please feel free to bring your own lunch.
Dear community and visitors:
There have been a lot of rapid shifts happening recently across many fields. This includes the Information Technology sector, along with IT workers and infrastructures supporting fields that are experiencing changes. Many people and offices are re-evaluating their long-term plans and expectations.
Career, academic, and life plans may be changing for you, and we want to share some current University of Michigan and local resources that you, or someone you know, may find useful in continuing your life-long engagement and growth.
Nonprofits offer free or low-cost resources - and also volunteer opportunities! Volunteering is an opportunity to engage with and contribute to supporting a community, and can also be a flexible way to exercise or build important skills.
Ann Arbor District Libraries are free for employees and community members to join (no fee for a library membership or card!). Multiple library locations host a range of free events; and also have a variety of resources available for lending, including media like DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, tools for DIY projects, and scientific and musical instruments.
University of Michigan hosts a Seed Library - these are free seeds to help get your garden project going!

While Women+ in Information Technology Community of Practice are still here, dedicated to encouraging everyone who has interests in Information Technology to explore all possibilities to engage in IT spaces, and exploring steps for our next full event, we hope you’ll keep in mind how so much has been accomplished together. Both in CoP events and your own community,
IT is at its best when everyone knows that you are welcome to learn and contribute!
